Press Release: ActioNet, Inc. Receives SEISM CMMI® Level 3 Certification

FAIRFAX, VA – July 15, 2005 – ActioNet, Inc. announced today that its Enterprise Software Development Division has been externally assessed at Maturity Level 3 of the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEISM) Capability Maturity Model Integration® for Systems Engineering/Software Engineering (CMMI®-SE/SW). The Standard CMMI® Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPISM) Class A Appraisal was conducted by a four person team from ProcessWorks, Inc. led by Dr. Eugene McGuire, an SEISM Lead Evaluator and President of ProcessWorks. Spanning a period of five days, the SCAMPISM Class A Appraisal examined ActioNet’s capabilities in eighteen Process Areas associated with the SEISM CMMI®-SE/SW, and ActioNet was found to meet the required capabilities for a Level 3 Maturity Rating. This tremendous achievement was built upon ActioNet’s SEISM SW-CMM® Level 3 Assessment in November 2003 and was executed in a period of less than eight months.

ActioNet’s Vice President, Jeffrey D. Abish, attributes this great achievement to the company’s strong focus on process improvement supported by a team of dedicated professionals that accept nothing less than the best. Abish said, “CMMI® represents an organizational commitment to process improvement. We work hard to make ourselves better and foster a corporate culture of mentoring and information sharing.”

ABOUT SEISM CAPABILITY MATURITY MODEL INTEGRATION (CMMI®)
Developed by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie-Mellon University, the Software Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) combines the separate disciplines of CMM® into an integrated process improvement model. The CMMI® models improve upon the best practices of previous models in many important ways. CMMI® best practices enable organizations to do the following: more explicitly link management and engineering activities to business objectives, closely tie product life cycle and engineering activities to help meet and exceed customer expectations, as well as provide compliance with ISO standards. The SEISM's vision is to help others make measured improvements in their software engineering capabilities and to develop the right software, delivered defect free, on time and on cost, every time.

There are five CMMI® Maturity Levels, ranging from an ad hoc initial capability (Level 1) to an optimizing level with a continuous process improvement focus (Level 5). CMMI® Level 3 is called the "Defined" level with a focus on “Process Standardization.” This rating is granted only after a rigorous third-party audit focusing on specific pieces of evidence that a company’s systems engineering and software engineering practices comply with the model. The Assessment Team is led by an SEISM-accredited Lead Evaluator.
