ActioNet recently participated in the 2026 Department of the Air Force Information Technology & Cyberpower (DAFITC) Training and Education Event in Montgomery, Alabama. DAFITC brought together Department of the Air Force (DAF) leaders, industry partners, and technology providers to exchange ideas around enterprise IT, cybersecurity, data and artificial intelligence, acquisition, and digital modernization.
Representing ActioNet were Kenny Hartdegen, Senior Director of Defense Programs, and Jeffrey Harris our EITaaS Wave One Project Lead. Throughout the conference, Kenny and Jeffrey engaged with Air Force leaders, mission partners, and industry colleagues on the Department’s continued push toward more resilient, standardized, and mission-focused enterprise IT. Key themes included enterprise modernization, Zero Trust, data and AI, workforce development, and the need for more agile approaches to acquiring and delivering technology.
One of the strongest takeaways from DAFITC was that digital transformation extends well beyond new tools and infrastructure. The Department continues to focus on integrating technology, people, processes, cybersecurity, and data into enterprise capabilities that can be delivered consistently across the force. Perhaps one of the Department’s most significant challenges ahead is how to responsibly accelerate the adoption of AI across the enterprise—balancing innovation and mission advantage with security, governance, trust, and responsible use. Discussions around operationalizing data, AI, and AI talent management further reinforced the importance of translating emerging technologies into practical, scalable mission outcomes.
DAFITC also provided an opportunity to connect those strategic discussions directly to mission execution. While in Montgomery, Kenny visited ActioNet’s EITaaS Wave One Team at Gunter AFB, spending time with fellow ActioNeters supporting enterprise IT services every day. The visit reinforced that successful transformation ultimately depends on strong execution at the user and installation level—delivering reliable services, responsive field support, secure connectivity, and a positive customer experience for Airmen and Guardians.
