A grandmother, granddaughter, and mother smile on a couch

By Lina J.

They say a mother’s work is never done. To honor this principle, this Sunday, May 10th, Americans across the nation will celebrate the mothers in their lives for Mother’s Day.

This holiday has been an annual tradition in the United States for over 100 years. The holiday was created in the early 1900s by Anna Jarvis as a method to honor her late mother. After the holiday caught on, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating Mother’s Day as a national holiday in 1914. Since then, the second Sunday in May has been recognized as a national holiday to honor all mothers.

Given this year’s unique circumstances, we are all celebrating this special day at home. Many of us find ourselves far from the women that we love the most. Despite the distance, with some creativity we can all give our mother figures the Mother’s Day they deserve during this quarantine.

ActioNet would like to honor all the hard-working mothers during these difficult times with a Mother’s Day Video contest. ActioNeters are encouraged to submit videos of their celebrations—whether it be a special dinner for your mother at home, a homemade craft sent to a grandmother, a video call with a close aunt, or something else entirely! We would like to see how you are celebrating this special day from a safe and healthy distance while staying close as a family.

To honor the special women in our lives, we at ActioNet are offering a $100 Amazon gift card to the winner of our contest. ActioNeters are encouraged to submit their video celebrations to us by May 12th for consideration.

ActioNet thanks all mothers this Mother’s Day and thank all their loved ones for celebrating in a safe and healthy manner. Stay tuned to see the creative ways ActioNeters celebrate their Mothers from a distance this year!
